Reno De Medici

For the third year in a row, we supported Reno De Medici—Italy’s leading and Europe’s second-largest producer of recycled-based cartonboard—in the development of its 2022 Sustainability Report. This important document, addressed to all stakeholders, was designed to communicate the Group’s growth journey and to highlight its identity and core business through a distinctive editorial approach. By leveraging the papercut technique, the report combines visual creativity with strategic messaging, offering a unique and compelling representation of Reno De Medici’s sustainable vision and values.

The Concept and Design: A Journey Inspired by the Product

The concept that shaped both the storytelling and the visual system is that of a journey. “On the Road to the Future” is not only the title of the document—it reflects a corporate path of growth and transformation driven by teamwork. This theme captures the Group’s commitments and values, while maintaining a strong connection to the idea of circularity, which was a key focus of the 2020 Report.

The storytelling unfolds at the beginning of each chapter through titles and abstracts that narrate RDM Group’s journey, making the key concepts of each main section immediately clear and recognizable.

In the second phase, we focused on the design and development of graphic layouts, inspired by the geometric shape of a pointer—a metaphor for both the starting point and destination of a shared journey. The entire visual system was crafted with the aim of highlighting the quality and sustainability of RDM Group’s product, reinforcing the core values and narrative of the report.

A “Green” Journey Defined by Hand-Crafted Visuals

To give even greater substance to the Group’s “green” spirit, every graphic element of the Report—including the cover and section dividers—was handcrafted using the papercut technique. This impactful detail conveys the company’s identity and makes RDM’s commitment to sustainability visually tangible.

Supporting the journey theme, a distinctive icon and visual style was used to trace a path shaped by shared purpose and teamwork, reinforcing the narrative of progress and collective effort.

In continuity with last year’s Sustainability Report and the previous Financial Report, all artworks and graphic elements featured in the document were crafted entirely in papercut, using RDM Group’s own recycled-based cartonboard. The circle, a central motif in the previous Report, was reinterpreted as a “geotag” to reinforce the concept of a journey as a path—underscoring the Group’s continued progress and sustainable direction.
